ORDINARY SEAMAN IMO COURSES
Justification of the Course:
The Ordinary Seaman course provides knowledge, skills and attitudes, such as:
- Contribute to monitoring and controlling safe surveillance.
- Basic knowledge of international regulations for the prevention of collisions at sea.
- Knowledge of safe work practices.
- Basic knowledge of the elements of navigation.
- Knowledge of emergency equipment and application of emergency procedures.
- Basic knowledge of anchoring, mooring and line management.
- Basic knowledge of nautical terms.
COURSE CONTENT:
Safe work practice.
Effective Human Relations on board.
Precautions to prevent pollution at sea.
Practices of cabuyería and knots.
Background of the ships.
Ship parts and operations.
Emergency procedures.
Fundamental principles of navigation.
- Glossary and Nautical Nomenclature.
DURATION OF THE COURSE:
500 hours (60 days).
CERTIFICATION:
An Authorized certificate will be granted by the Maritime Authority of Panama (AMP).
